Skin tribology in sport

چکیده
This review describes the principles of skin friction and wear for benefit sports scientists, engineers clinicians. Skin exhibits complex behaviour, defying tribological laws dry contact; hence, its characteristics are affected by sliding speed, normal load, contact area. Some seek to increase enhance performance; however, this needs be offset against injury risk given that abrades when slid across a rough hard surface, delaminates smooth chafes or blisters repeatedly rubbed some fabrics. Whilst interactions can both define hinder athlete performance, there exists need better understand biomechanics optimise balance versus reward.

Participation in sport activities has become increasingly popular, as a result, more patients are referred 10 dermatologists for disorders caused by sport activities. During most forms of exercise, the skin and it's appendages are under constant assault by traumatic and other environmental factors that can cause injury. Physical activity also predispose s the skin to infection and can exacer...
متن کاملTribology of Skin: Review and Analysis of Experimental Results for the Friction Coefficient of Human Skin
In this review, we discuss the current knowledge on the tribology of human skin and present an analysis of the available experimental results for skin friction coefficients. Starting with an overview on the factors influencing the friction behaviour of skin, we discuss the up-to-date existing experimental data and compare the results for different anatomical skin areas and friction measurement ...
متن کاملLiquid Crystals in Tribology
Two decades ago, the literature dealing with the possible applications of low molar mass liquid crystals, also called monomer liquid crystals (MLCs), only included about 50 references. Today, thousands of papers, conference reports, books or book chapters and patents refer to the study and applications of MLCs as lubricants and lubricant additives and efforts are made to develop new commercial ...
متن کاملTribology in biology
Man has conducted research in the field of tribology for several thousands of years. Nature has been producing lubricants and adhesives for millions of years. Biotribologists gather information about biological surfaces in relative motion, their friction, adhesion, lubrication and wear, and apply this knowledge to technological innovation as well as to the development of environmentally sound p...
متن کاملIonic liquids in tribology.
Current research on room-temperature ionic liquids as lubricants is described. Ionic liquids possess excellent properties such as non-volatility, non-flammability, and thermo-oxidative stability. The potential use of ionic liquids as lubricants was first proposed in 2001 and approximately 70 articles pertaining to fundamental research on ionic liquids have been published through May 2009. A lar...
